September 2008 RHB Goes Natiowide to Share the Joy of Hari Raya with the Underprivileged Kuala Lumpur, 23 Setember 2008: The RHB Banking Group shares the joy of Syawal with over a thousand orphans from 14 Orphanages all over the country. An old folks home, Rumah Ehsan Kuala Kubu Baru, Selangor, which houses 110 underprivileged senior citizens, is also selected. The charity programme kicks off at the Pondok Penyayang Raudhah, Selangor with the Chairman of RHB Bank Berhad, Datuk Azlan Zainol present to give out duit raya to the orphans. Each charity home also receives a cheque, to be used for maintenance and utilities for the festive season. Datuk Azlan said, “RHB has always had a soft spot for children. In line with the teachings of Islam to foster the spirit of giving and sharing in the month of Syawal, we hope our little contribution will make a difference to the children’s Hari Raya celebration. They truly deserve to be as happy and cheerful as all of the other children out there.” This goodwill gesture also involves RHB staff nationwide as they visit and distribute duit raya to the recipients in other states.
