RHB CAPITAL GROUP ANNOUNCES BOARD OF DIRECTORS' APPOINTMENTS

Kuala Lumpur, May 08, 2003- RHB Capital Berhad ("RHB Capital") announced today appointments to its Board of Directors and that of its group companies namely RHB Sakura Merchant Bankers Berhad ("RHB Sakura") and RHB Bank Berhad ("RHB Bank"). Key appointments include Dato Sri Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Taib as Executive Chairman of RHB Capital and Datuk Azlan Zainol as Chairman of RHB Sakura while Dato' Ali Hassan remains as Chairman of RHB Bank Berhad ("RHB Bank").
Dato Sri Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Taib has vast experience in the banking and finance industry, with previous Board appointments in the Securities, Banking and Corporate Advisory sectors. He was Deputy Group Chairman and Acting Chief Executive Officer of Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad ("CMSB") prior to his being appointed Group Chairman of CMSB in 2002.
Datuk Azlan Zainol has wide experience in the banking and finance sector and is currently Chief Executive Officer of the Employees Provident Fund ("EPF"). He has previously served as Managing Director of Arab Malaysian Bank Berhad. Datuk Azlan is a fellow of the Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Commenting on the Board Appointments, Dato Sri Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Taib, Executive Chairman of RHB Capital said "We are pleased that we have secured approval from Bank Negara Malaysia for the appointment of the respective directors to the Boards of RHB Capital and its group of companies. We are now looking forward towards implementing the strategic plans that we have in place to take the RHB Group to a new level of growth and leadership in Malaysia's financial services sector."
