RHB Di Hati Nationwide Roadshow Kicks Off With a Bang

It was a spectacular start. There were fireworks, traditional dance performances and an array of special products to pique the interest of the estimated 400 people who gathered at the Gamelan Ballroom, Primula Beach Resort in Kuala Terengganu on the afternoon of June 16, 2004.

The occasion was the launching of the RHB Di Hati nationwide roadshow by Terengganu Menteri Besar Dato Idris Jusoh. The launching ceremony began at 2.30pm with the arrival of the Menteri Besar at the Primula Beach Resort.

Accompanied by RHB Capital Bhd Executive Chairman Dato Sri Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Taib and members of the RHB Group boards of directors, Dato Idris received a red carpet and traditional kompang welcome at the ballroom.

In his welcome address, Dato Sri Sulaiman said the RHB Di Hati roadshow was a showcase of financial products and services from the RHB Group. "This is the first time that a financial services group has organised such a roadshow, and we will be taking our products throughout the country," he said.

He said the showcase was also a commitment by RHB to provide excellent service with its many financial packages.

Dato Idris thanked RHB for choosing Terengganu as its first stop in the group’s nationwide roadshow. He said this showed that RHB recognised Terengganu as a state that has vast potential for growth.

After his speech Dato Idris, accompanied by Dato Sri Sulaiman, beat the kertuk, a traditional Malay drum native to Terengganu, to launch the roadshow. It was followed immediately by fireworks. Colourful ribbons spun out of a spool at the entrance to an exhibition area, while shiny and colourful streamers filled the air.

Dato Idris, Dato Sri Sulaiman and the other VIPs then took a tour of the exhibition area. Personnel manning the many booths had a busy time briefing the guests on the many products available from the RHB Group.

The companies that set up booths in the exhibition area to promote their products were RHB Bank, RHB Delta Finance, RHB Sakura Merchant Bankers, RHB Futures, RHB Securities, RHB Asset Management, RHB Unit Trust, RHB Insurance and the group’s sister company Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd.

Meanwhile, RHB Insurance and RHB Bank also launched their separate promotional efforts in various parts of Kuala Terengganu.

RHB Insurance held a sales programme at the Tan Chong Motors outlet in Kuala Terengganu on June 17 to promote its many products. Tan Chong and RHB Insurance also jointly sponsored a children’s colouring contest and lucky draw for patrons.

The colouring contest was divided into two categories – for children aged five to seven and those aged eight to 12. For each category, there were 16 prizes. There were five consolation prizes of a scooter each and eight consolation prizes of a remote control car each.

The third prize winners in each category received a bicycle, the second prize winners got a bicycle and a remote control car each and the top prize was a bicycle, a scooter and a remote control car. Winners in the lucky draw received a hamper each.

The Consumer Banking Division of RHB Bank set up booths at three shopping centres – Astaka, Sabasun Hypermarket and Mydin – as well as Wisma Darul Iman to promote various products such as credit cards, RHB My1 Home Loan, Islamic Banking Cashline Home Financing, ASNB Financing and other consumer products and services. The personnel at these booths also helped to promote RHB Insurance products.

Visitors to the booths at Astaka and Mydin were also given a chance to win prizes. All they had to do was guess the number of coloured balls of various sizes contained in a transparent box.

The winners of the contest received two tickets each to a Spider-Man 2 screening at a cinema in Kuantan. They were also given an RHB Bank premium hamper each. Each of the three consolation prize winners also received a premium hamper each. Each hamper contained an RHB Bank t-shirt, a mug, a notebook, an umbrella and other promotional items.

On June 15, about 150 businessmen and top company executives attended a seminar organised by the RHB Group. Top management personnel briefed them on the many products and services available from RHB. The participants also received some valuable investment advice during the seminar.

A woman telecoms contractor, who is also an RHB Bank customer, won the RHB Securities’ "Guess the Index" contest. All the participants had to do was guess what the KLCI would be at exactly 4pm on June 16, but their entries had to be submitted by 3.30pm that day. In addition, they had to write a slogan. The contractor beat more than 50 others to win a Nokia 6230 mobile phone for her effort.

On the night of June 16, the East Coast ACB of RHB Bank, led by its head Amir Abdul Aziz, hosted a dinner for the directors and staff in conjunction with the launching of RHB Di Hati.

Dato Sri Sulaiman led several employees to entertain the guests with several hit songs during the karaoke session not long after the dinner began.
