RHB honoured at Asiamoney Poll

Kuala Lumpur, Feb 23, 2005: The RHB Group picked up three awards at the Asiamoney Annual Awards 2005 held at the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur on the night of Feb 22, 2005.

The recognition received by RHB was for Best Local Brokerage, Best Overall Macroeconomics and Best Services for All Trade Needs. They were awarded to RHB Securities Sdn Bhd, RHB Research Institute Sdn Bhd and RHB Bank Berhad.

The first award, for Best Local Brokerage, was received by RHB Securities CEO Dr. Zaha Rina Zahari. The award, under Asiamoney’s Poll of Polls category, was in recognition of RHB’s record of having won in this category continuously over the past 15 years.

Chief Economist and Director of RHB Research Institute Lim Chee Sing received the second award, Best Overall Macroeconomics, on behalf of RHB. Recognition for research in economics is also not new for RHB. Lim and his team of analysts have won several awards for their incisive research and comprehensive reports in various sectors over the years. Lim himself has won several awards for research in economics.

The last award, for Best Services for All Trade Needs, was won by RHB Bank. Head of Trade Services Department at the bank, Noriah Ngah, received the award on behalf of her team. This is the first time that RHB Bank has won in this category.

More than 200 people, comprising the top players and sharpest minds in the Malaysian financial services industry were at the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur to witness the awards presentation.

A total of 30 personnel from RHB, led by Directors Encik Vaseehar Hassan Abdul Razack and Dato’ Paduka Nik Hashim Nik Yusoff were present. The guest of honour at the awards ceremony was Chairman of the Securities Commission Dato’ Md Nor Yusof.
