Sultan of Kelantan Launches RHB Di Hati Roadshow

Kota Bharu, March 22, 2005: The RHB Di Hati was given a touch of royalty when the Sultan of Kelantan launched the third leg of its nationwide roadshow here today.

Sultan Ismail Petra, who was accompanied by the Raja Perempuan of Kelantan, declared open the five-day RHB Group of Companies’ showcase of financial products and services by beating the rebana ubi, a traditional musical instrument of Kelantan.

The launching ceremony marked the start of the five-day RHB Di Hati – Kelantan roadshow that will feature an extravaganza of products and services from the RHB Group. There will be joint marketing visits as well as corporate luncheons and dinners hosted by the various subsidiaries of the Group.

The launching ceremony was held at the Renaissance Hotel here. Among those who were also present were Kelantan Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Nik Aziz Nik Mat, RHB Capital Berhad Executive Chairman Dato Sri Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Taib, senior state government officials and several members of the boards of directors of the RHB Group of Companies.

During the five-day showcase, several events will be held in and around Kota Baru not only to promote the suite of financial products and services offered by the RHB Group of Companies, but also to engage the people of Kelantan in various activities. These include off-site marketing of consumer products such as credit cards and home loans as well as seminars for members of the business community.

On the second day of the roadshow tomorrow, six subsidiaries of the group will host a talk on investment opportunities for existing and potential clients. The six are RHB Asset Management Sdn Bhd, RHB Unit Trust Management Berhad, RHB Insurance Berhad, RHB Securities Sdn Bhd, RHB Futures Sdn Bhd, RHB Sakura Merchant Bankers Berhad and RHB Bank Berhad.

The divisions and departments of RHB Bank that will be taking part in the day’s event are Commercial Banking, Technology Banking, Treasury and Investment Services.

On the following day, various divisions of RHB Bank as well as the newly launched RHB Islamic Bank Berhad will meet business partners to introduce them to the various products that are available from the RHB Group.

College students will get the opportunity to learn all they can about the banking and finance industry during Hari Pendidikan Pintar – a seminar organised especially for them to be held on the fourth day of the roadshow.

The launching ceremony by the Sultan today was followed immediately by the presentation of RM9,000 worth of books to three colleges – Politeknik Kota Bharu, Kolej Islam Antarabangsa Sultan Ismail Petra and Universiti Teknologi Tun Abdul Razak.

The RHB Group also donated RM16,000 towards a community project to refurbish homes in Jeli, Bachok, Tumpat and Pasir Puteh. The donations were a part of the RHB Group’s initiative to play its role as a good corporate citizen.

In his address at the launching ceremony, Dato Sri Sulaiman said the book donation was a reflection of the efforts by RHB Group to ensure that young people were given ample opportunity for personal advancement through proper education.

“Our contribution to the community project is part of RHB’s way to show our appreciation to the community and to contribute in a small way towards the socio-economic advancement of the people,” he said.

Dato Sri Sulaiman said the choice of the East Coast region as the first stop for the RHB Di Hati roadshow reinforced the group’s commitment to make the region another frontline in its future expansion plans.

“We see a lot of potential in Kelantan. It is the enterprising spirit of the Kelantanese that we see all over the country that will take the state to greater heights. This spirit will serve as an inspiration for us at the RHB Group,” he added.
