RHB to Pose Strong Challenge at Rat Race
The RHB Group will send a total of 12 teams to this year’s The Edge-Bursa Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Rat Race that will be held on Aug 9, 2005 – making it the largest contingent not only in this year’s race, but in the Rat Race’s six-year history.
Leading the RHB challenge will be Group Executive Chairman Dato Sri Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Taib, who will be taking part in the CEO Race for the third consecutive year.
Joining Dato Sri Sulaiman in the CEO Race are RHB Bank Director Prof Bala Shanmugam, RHB Insurance Chief Executive Officer Mr Koh Heng Kong and RHB Securities CEO Dr Zaha Rina Zahari.
This will be the first outing for Prof Bala and Mr Koh. Dr Zaha Rina won the Best Dressed award in last year’s race. She ran in her baju kurung.
Apart from having the highest number of teams, the RHB Group is also expected to be the company with the most participants in the CEO Race. In last year’s race, RHB sent seven teams and three entrants for the CEO Race. They were Dato Sri Sulaiman, Dr Zaha Rina and RHB Sakura Merchant Bankers Chairman Encik Abdullah Mat Noh.
Hundreds of RHB Group employees are also expected to line the route to cheer on their colleagues.
The Edge-Bursa Malaysia Rat Race, an annual event that top company executives look forward to, takes runners over a 4.5km route around the financial district of Kuala Lumpur. The CEO Race is a 1km run. The race starts and ends at the Bursa Malaysia office in Bukit Kewangan.
Proceeds from the race are donated to various charitable organizations in Malaysia. |
