RHB Credit Cards closes 2005 with a big bang

KUALA LUMPUR, 13 Dec 2005: RHB Bank Bhd, which already has more than half a million credit cards in circulation, has enjoyed a successful year with numerous offers, contests and milestones.

Its array of cards – ranging from the exclusive Infinite and Platinum, to the Gold and Classic, as well as the hip and trendy EVO and AirAsia credit cards – have won accolades and approval from business partners and its wide range of customers. It has been able to achieve this but continually enticing customers with new and exciting innovations and rewarding them for their support, while strengthening its position in the credit card market in Malaysia.

The main accolade for 2005 is the Gold Award for Best Chip Card Programme at the annual MasterCard Asia/Pacific Marketing Leadership Awards 2005 accorded to the RHB AirAsia credit card. The first anniversary of the card was marked by the resounding success of it surpassing the target card-base of 100,000.

To reward customers, particularly credit cardholders, for its success, RHB Bank had organized various promotions and contest throughout the year, ensuring not just a period of excitement but also added value to cardholders’ membership.

One of these is the third Spend & Win contest – now a “tradition” of RHB credit cards’ products and services. The contest drew many participants, and winners walked away with exciting prizes, including Maxis talk time of up to five years and trendy Sony Ericsson mobile phones.

RHB Bank, in collaboration with Maxis and Sony Ericsson, marked the conclusion of a successful contest with a prize giving ceremony for the winners in Kuala Lumpur today.

All the cardmembers had to do was to charge a minimum of RM50 in a single receipt to their cards to be eligible to participate. The contest was conducted solely via short messaging service (SMS) for a faster, more convenient and mobile access for cardmembers.

Cardmembers could send in as many entries as they wished by answering two questions via SMS, as long as each entry had a new approval code from different transactions. They could win multiple times within the same or subsequent months. Winners of the contest were selected based on correct entries within the fastest time.

The three Grand Prize winners were Mr Cheam Heng Sek, Mr Teh Chooi Kian and Mr Wong Hong Cheng. Mr Cheam and Mr Teh both walked away with RM12,000 worth of Maxis Talk Time and a K750i Sony Ericsson mobile handphone each.

Mr. Wong, whose prize consisted of Maxis Talk Time worth a whopping RM36,000 and three K750i Sony Ericsson mobile phones said, “I am so elated to have won. I did not think it was possible to bag the prizes considering the number of people participating in the contest. Now, I have the opportunity to speak on my new Sony Ericsson handphones for free and all thanks to RHB Bank!”

The prizes were presented to the winners by Mr Michael Lor, Head of Consumer Banking at RHB Bank. Mr. Lor said that the contest was an ongoing effort by RHB Bank to reward its valued credit cardmembers.

“ We believe 2005 has been a fruitful and exciting year for RHB credit cards. It would not have been possible without the support and trust put in us by our cardmembers. Together with exciting deals and interesting contests, we hope our cardmembers will continue to support us as they have been doing over the years. Our cardmembers can look forward to even more exciting promotions and programmes in 2006.” Mr Lor added.

The Current promotion by RHB Credit Cards is the Festive Fiesta, which runs until February 2006. Tying-up with close to 100 merchants, RHB Credit Card adds joy to the festive season by offering up to 10 times RHB Reward points with other best deals and exciting discounts to all its credit cardmembers.

An additional exclusive offer for RHB AirAsia credit cardmembers are more AirAsia Ringgit (AARM) to be rewarded when cardmembers shop at participating merchants’ outlets. Some of these merchants are Metrojaya, Unisense and Segafredo.

On top of that, RHB Bank also has its Smart Instalment programmes where cardmembers can enjoy zero percent (0%) instalment repayment schemes at many retail outlets, all for the benefit and convenience of our cardmembers during this festive period.
