RHB Bank bags two awards from Asiamoney

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9, 2006: It has been a great start to the Year of the Dog for the RHB Group, particularly RHB Bank Bhd (“RHB Bank”). The financial institution bagged two awards at the annual Asiamoney Awards 2006.

The accolades were all the more significant for RHB Bank considering that it was voted for one of the awards by its peers in the industry.

RHB Bank won the award for Best Domestic Providers of FX Services in the Foreign Exchange Poll conducted by Asiamoney – a leading financial magazine read throughout the Asian region – for its September 2005 issue.

The vote was conducted among corporates and financial institutions and RHB Bank won the votes from financial institutions.

RHB Bank also bagged the same award in the vote conducted among the markets.

The awards were presented to the winners at the 2 nd Annual Malaysian Awards Ceremony hosted by Asiamoney at the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur, yesterday evening.

The editor of Asiamoney, Chris Cockerill, presented the awards to representatives of the winning institutions and companies.

Apart from the Foreign Exchange Poll, awards were also given to winners of the Travel, Domestic Best Banks, Structured Products, Cash Management and Brokers Polls. There were also awards for the Best Managed Companies and Deals of the Year.

Chief Executive Officer of RHB Bank, Mr Michael Barrett and Head of Treasury at RHB Bank, Mr Michael Lim, received the awards on behalf of the bank.

Mr Lim attributed RHB Bank’s success to the ability of the Treasury Division team to provide top quality service to its clients and other financial institutions, as well as the efforts made by team members daily to meet all clients’ needs.

“We also have the benefit of a great track record in giving our best to our customers. Of course we will not be resting on our laurels. We will build on this success to ensure that even more benefits for our customers in the future,” he added.

RHB Bank and the RHB Group have won numerous awards from regional publications such as Asiamoney and Euromoney over the years. In the Asiamoney Awards 2005 last year, RHB Bank won the award for Trade Services while RHB Securities Sdn Bhd won the award for Best Local Brokerage and RHB Research Institute Sdn Bhd won for research in Best Overall Macroeconomics.
