Kids get a treat at star-studded RHB Bank's Superman Returns Grand Premiere

KUALA LUMPUR, 28 JUNE 2006: A total of 50 children from Rumah Kanak-Kanak Tengku Budriah Cheras were among more than 1,000 Malaysians to witness the return of the Man of Steel at the star-studded RHB Bank Superman Returns Grand Premiere here last night.

The children were among the first Malaysians to get to watch the latest Hollywood blockbuster, which is also the fifth instalment in the Superman series, screened at the Golden Screens Cinemas in Mid Valley Mega Mall, here. A total of 14 halls were booked for the premiere.

Earlier, the children were given a treat at the McDonald’s outlet at the shopping mall before their chaperon, Puan Juliah Jermin was presented with a mock cheque for RM5,000 as RHB Bank’s contribution to the children’s home. RHB Bank Chief Executive Officer Mr Michael J. Barrett, Head of Consumer Banking Mr Michael Lor and Head of Cards & Unsecured Business Mr Gan Kheng Chai presented the cheque on behalf of the bank.

Fans of the caped crusader also got another treat when several Malaysian celebrities turned up to watch the movie. The EVO stars who were present were Serena Choong, Rudy, Azah Yasmin, Nazrudin Rahman, Joanna Bessey, Lum Tak Weng, Melinda Looi, Phillipa Clare Yoong, Fauziah Latiff, Wong Kok Keong and Desiree Tan.

Mr Lor said that sponsoring the Superman Returns Grand Premiere was part of RHB Bank’s way to reward those who carry the RHB Credit Cards, as well as to bring excitement to their lives.

“This is also in line with the new tagline of the EVO Credit Card, which is ‘Experience It’. Basically, we want our customers to not just ‘See the Impact’ and ‘Hear the Extreme’, but also to ‘Experience It’,” he added.

“We distributed a total of 700 premiere tickets to RHB Credit Card holders during the RHB Superman Returns Showcase held at the Mid Valley Mega Mall between 7 June and 11 June 2006.

To get a pair of tickets, all the customer has to do is sign a minimum of RM100 on his RHB Credit Card during the showcase. He could then produce his credit card slip to redeem the tickets.

“There are other ways that fans have won tickets to the Premiere. Hitz.FM, MY fm and ERA fm held a Superman Returns contest in conjunction with this Premiere and the winners were given a pair of Superman Returns Premiere tickets and Superman Returns Limited Edition Premium items,” Mr Lor said.

Superman Returns, starring Brandon Routh as the DC Comic superhero, Kate Bosworth as his love interest Lois Lane and Kevin Spacey as the villain Lex Luthor, opens for screening worldwide tomorrow.

This is the fourth Hollywood movie premiere that RHB Bank has sponsored. The others were Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith, SpiderMan 2 and Lord of The Rings: The Return of The King.

In conjunction with the Superman Returns premiere, RHB Bank has organised a Spend & Win Contest with the grand prize of RM200,000 cash in a card. Participation for the contest is still open as it will only close on July 31, 2006.
