Quick, secure and convenient way to pay with RHB credit card at Secret Recipe
KUALA LUMPUR, 8 August 2006: You’re in a hurry so you opt for a quick lunch at Secret Recipe. You already have your tom yam noodle soup, your drink and dessert.
At the payment counter, you whip out your RHB EVO MasterCard PayPass and tap it on the PayPass Reader, and in a couple of seconds you’re already sitting at your table and doing justice to the food.
Quick, easy and convenient, that’s how you want to pay for your purchases … be it for food, clothes or just a cuppa’. And this very convenient and easy payment process will soon be the norm, thanks to RHB Bank Bhd (“RHB Bank”). For purchases of RM110 and below, you don’t even need to sign on the transaction slip or key in a PIN authorization.
“In a fast-paced environment where time and convenience are of the essence, drastically shortening the process of paying for your purchases goes a long way in satisfying customer needs,” said Mr Michael Lor, Head of Consumer Banking at RHB Bank.
"In many instances, it takes just as long to process a payment on your credit card as it is to select the item you want to buy. While most shoppers are quite happy to spend time choosing an item to buy, they want to be able to pay quickly. With the RHB MasterCard PayPass facility, shoppers get what they want,” he added.
The ‘contactless’ credit card enables the payment to be executed via a radio frequency antenna embedded in the card and connected to the chip. The antenna allows the exchange of signals between the card’s chip and the PayPass Reader, thus enabling the transaction.
Apart from the convenience factor, there is also the element of added security compared to carrying cash, Mr Lor pointed out. Furthermore, credit card transactions are recorded on customers’ monthly statements thereby making it easier for individuals to better manage their finances.
Secret Recipe, the restaurant chain, is among the first merchants to sign up with RHB Bank to provide the RHB MasterCard PayPass facility to its customers. The two parties signed an agreement for the new service at one of Secret Recipe’s outlet here today.
Mr Lor said RHB Bank would initially target the ‘contactless’ credit card at the younger segment of consumers – the young professionals aged between 25 and 29 years.
“We see the young, urban professionals who are hip and trendy and enjoy patronising fast food outlets or cafes, cinemas or clubs,” he said.
Another target consumer is the working professional, aged between 30 and 39, who are already established, most likely married with children, who frequents hypermarkets and fast food outlets but does not like to wait for too long in the queue.
RHB Bank, the fourth largest financial institution in Malaysia today, has among the widest range of credit cards to cater to all segments of consumers. For the young executive who is just starting out in life, the RHB EVO MasterCard and Visa offer a convenient payment tool with a low entry point qualification criteria. These cards feature discounts and a unique design for the young, hip and trendy as well as young at heart individuals.
At the other end of the spectrum is the Infinite Card, which offers unlimited credit limit and is offered only to a select few who are considered leaders in the corporate world. RHB Bank is the only financial institution in Malaysia to offer this card, which is “beyond Platinum”.
Others in the RHB stable of credit cards are the Gold Card for those who have graduated from the Classic, the AirAsia card that enables users to chalk up air miles on the low fare airline and the PlusOne Credit Card, which is co-branded lifestyle card with electrical products retail chain Senheng, which offers up to 2% PlusOne dollar earnings to be used to offset future purchases.
