RHB rises to the Rat Race challenge … yet again
Kuala Lumpur, 17 Aug 2006: As defending champions, there is tremendous pressure on the RHB Group to excel yet again … but the more than 60 who have already signed up for The Edge Bursa Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Rat Race 2006 are raring to go.
Leading the charge in the latest edition of the now famous race for corporate executives are RHB Bank Bhd Chairman Dato’ Azlan Zainol and RHB Sakura Merchant Bankers Bhd Chairman Dato’ Abdullah Mat Noh.
Dato’ Azlan and Dato’ Abdullah will be taking part in the 1km CEOs Race.
The RHB Group will be fielding a total of 12 teams again this year, equaling the Group’s mark set last year. At the 2005 event, the Group was the company with the highest number of teams in the race. Apart from that, RHB Bank’s “A” Team was overall team champions and one of the team’s members, S. Ganesan, was individual champion.
Ganesan and the others of the “A” Team have pledged to go all out to defend their crown. The others in the team are Leong Kwan Chong, S. Vasu Subramaniam and brothers Krishnasamy Chappanimuthu and Gunasegaran Chappanimuthu.
This year, the RHB Group will also field an all-women team. The members of the team are Marina Kenis, Wong Bee Ping, Nor Faziana, Sabarina Samsuri and Puteri Yuzira Murni, all of whom are from the Group Secretariat.
Of the 12 teams, four are from RHB Bank, two each from RHB Sakura and RHB Securities, and one each from RHB Capital, RHB Islamic Bank, RHB Insurance and RHB Unit Trust.
In addition to the race, RHB is also sending in a team to take part in the cheerleading competition. A total of eight employees from the various subsidiaries are training under the tutelage of an aerobics instructor to prepare for the challenge.
The Rat Race, which will kick off at Bursa Malaysia after market closes on Tuesday, 5 Sept 2006, will see runners pound the tarmac over 4.5km. The route winds around Kuala Lumpur’s commercial and financial district before ending at the Bursa premises on Bukit Kewangan.
Proceeds from the Rat Race go to charity organizations. |
