RHB BANK LAUNCHES NEW CONTEST AND REWARDS LUCKY CREDIT CARDMEMBER WITH RM200,000 CASH

KUALA LUMPUR, 4 October 2006: RHB Bank Berhad (“RHB Bank”) launched its year-end mega campaign and contest today called the RHB Big Cash Payout and simultaneously presented prizes to the winners of its Spend & Win RM200,000 Superman Returns contest which ended in July 2006.

RHB Big Cash Payout is a new four-month campaign, which begins in October 2006 and ends in January 2007, and promises bigger and better rewards to its cardmembers. It is a 2-in-1 campaign where cardmembers get to enjoy exclusive and irresistible promotions when they shop and participate in the Big Cash Payout contest that may win them 10 times the amount they have spent on their RHB credit cards.

Each credit card payment slip will entitle the shopper to one chance at the Big Cash Payout, but if he shops during the weekends, each payment slip will get him five chances, thus increasing his chances by five times. The amount won will then be credited into his RHB credit card account.

In conjunction with the festive seasons around the corner, RHB Bank will be introducing exciting and enticing deals, discounts and privileges for the benefit of its cardmembers.

“We will be introducing exciting deals under various themes from October onwards, so cardmembers are advised to look out for information on on-going promotions in the local newspapers or our website to fully take advantage of this campaign,” said Mr Michael Lor, Head of Consumer Banking at RHB Bank.

During these monthly-themed promotions, cardmembers can benefit from discounts, freebies and exclusive packages. In October cardmembers will get to cash in on the Ravishing Raya Special deals, while in November which is the Gadget Month, cardmembers can purchase gadgets such as mobile phones or electrical items at great discounts and special deals. Likewise, cardmembers can get irresistible offers and discounts for holiday packages and gifts in December, which is the month for travel and Christmas. In January, as the Chinese community makes preparations for Chinese New Year the bargain is again on gifts and decoration items.

Among the participating merchants for the month of October 2006 are Golden Screen Cinemas, Modesto’s, California Fitness, Eden Seafood, Marie France and Seri Angkasa. At Golden Screen Cinema patrons will get one free ticket for every two tickets purchased, while Modesto’s is offering a 50% discount on pizzas and pastas for lunch and 10% discount for dinner. At California Fitness, patrons get a 14-day membership, a personal training session, an in-body analysis (worth RM880) and a limited edition California Fitness 10th anniversary water bottle.

“We want to make it easier for our cardmembers to win! Imagine swiping their credit card for Hari Raya or Deepavali décor purchases and they could be one step away from being a winner!” Mr Lor added.

To join the contest, cardmember just have to fill out the contest form; obtainable from any RHB Bank branch or participating merchant and send it to RHB Credit Cards along with the transaction slip attached.

There will be monthly winners and a grand total of RM240,000 is expected to be given away.

“RHB Bank is always looking for more innovative and creative ways to reward its customers. We want to make it fun, easy and yet rewarding each time cardmembers swiped their card. This is another example of our commitment to not only reward our customers but also to attract new ones,” Mr Lor added.

The recently ended RHB Spend & Win RM200,000 Superman Returns contest was held in conjunction with the bank’s recent movie sponsorship of Superman Returns in June 2006. The contest was held from March 2006 to July 2006 with early bird bonuses given away to the first 20 complete entries each month and the winners have been selected and were presented with their prizes in Kuala Lumpur today.

Ms Shek Yuen Heng emerged as the grand prize winner and had RM200,000 cash credited into her RHB Credit Card. “I was ecstatic when they called me and told me that I won RM200,000! This is the first time I have taken part in a contest and I did not expect to win. I’m very happy. Thank you RHB Bank! I can now spend on all those items I’ve always dreamed of!” said Ms. Shek during the prize giving ceremony. Second prize winners received a 42” LCD TV, third prize winners a Home Theatre System and consolation prize winners won a Sony playstation PSP each.
