RHB Bank gives away My Fair Lady The Musical tickets to charity homes

Kuala Lumpur, 12 April 2007: Inmates from three charitable organisations – Woman’s Aid Organisation (WAO), HOSPIS Malaysia and Rumah HOPE – will now get to enjoy the stage production of My Fair Lady The Musical, thanks to RHB Bank Bhd (“RHB Bank”).

The bank, which is the main presenter of the musical when it is staged at the Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, here from 15 May to 20 May 2007, has pledged about 100 tickets so the less fortunate, including abused and abandoned children, will get to live the magic of this enduring musical.

“We are honoured to be given the opportunity to present this musical to the Malaysian audience and privileged to be able to bring smiles to the less fortunate. We are certain that this universally recognised musical, with an outstanding cast, will definitely delight the viewers,” said Ms Angela Christine Tan, Head of Investment Services and Liabilities, Consumer Banking Division, at RHB Bank.

The ticket pledge was made during a visit by Poppy Tierney, who plays the main character Eliza Doolittle in the stage production, to Rumah HOPE in Petaling Jaya yesterday. Children aged between four and 17 living in the home were treated to a sneak preview of the stage production when Tierney surprised them with her rendition of I Could Have Danced All Night.

“With its lavish stage production, an outstanding cast comprising seasoned performers from London’s West End and the irrepressible signature tunes such as The Rain In Spain and Wouldn’t It Be Loverly, we are certain that the children will be captivated. It will definitely be a day to remember,” Ms Tan said.

“We are indeed delighted to be able to contribute in our small way to bring some cheer to the children at Rumah HOPE,” she added.
