RHB Banking Group joins in search for Sharlinie

Kuala Lumpur, 11 January 2008: The RHB Banking Group has joined in the nationwide search for missing child Sharlinie Mohd Nasyar. It has begun distributing leaflets of the missing child through its branches in Peninsular Malaysia. Pictures of the girl will also be uploaded onto RHB Bank Bhd’s ATM screens across the country.
Apart from this initiative, a number of RHB Banking Group employees also played their part by distributing posters and leaflets to members of the public at shopping centres such as Ampang Park Shopping Complex, Sogo, Pertama Complex and Suria KLCC as well as at LRT stations in the hope that anyone who has information on her whereabouts will come forward to assist the police in the search.
The effort to locate the missing girl has been initiated as part of the RHB Banking Group’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme Missing Children – Reuniting Families which was launched last year.
Chairman of RHB Bank and Director of RHB Capital Bhd Datuk Azlan Zainol, in expressing the banking group’s concern over the safety of Sharlinie, said every effort would be made to disseminate details of the missing child in the hope that she would be found and reunited with her family as quickly as possible.
Five-year-old Sharlinie was abducted while playing near her home in PJS2 Taman Medan, Petaling Jaya, on Wednesday. Her parents Mohd Nasyar Mat Hussain and Suraya Ahmad said Sharlinie was asthmatic and was receiving treatment at the University Malaya Medical Centre for her condition.
This will be the third time that the RHB Banking Group is assisting in the search for a missing child. Shortly after it launched the CSR programme in July last year, the group assisted in the search for a missing teenage girl. She was subsequently reunited with her family.
Datuk Azlan urged customers of RHB Bank to take the leaflets with them and to contact the police if they had any information about the missing child.
