RHB Bank makes it easier for employers to submit their workers' tax payments

Kuala Lumpur, 15 February 2008: All it takes now is a click of the mouse, and an employee's monthly income tax payments will be sent directly to the Inland Revenue Board's (Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri or LHDN) account.

This new online capability has been made available to employers under a new agreement reached between LHDN and RHB Bank Bhd ("RHB Bank") today. The Chief Executive Officer / Director-General of the LHDN, Dato' Hasmah Abdullah and RHB Group Managing Director, Michael J. Barrett signed the agreement on behalf of their individual organizations.

Under the agreement, employers will be able to use RHB Bank's Internet Banking payroll solution - the Reflex eHR2 - to forward income tax deductions of their employees to the LHDN account. The new facility will be extended to Reflex eHR2 users at no additional cost.

"This is just another service that we, at RHB Bank, extend to our customers to help them meet one of their many obligations, in this case settling their employees' income tax," said Mr Barrett.

"I would like to thank LHDN for making it possible for us to provide this service to our customers and we look forward to more such tie-ups with LHDN in other e-solution services," he added.

RHB Bank introduced the Reflex eHR2 - a web-based payroll service - in late 2003 to enable businesses, big and small, to manage the payment of salaries to their employees more efficiently. It is designed to take away the hassles of filling out forms, keeping track of deadlines and complying with statutory payments.

The service, designed by the bank's Technology Banking Unit, already has the capability to forward employers' and employees' contributions to the Employees Provident Fund ("EPF") and SOCSO.

The Reflex eHR2 can be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, across the globe via the Internet. To ensure full protection of employees' data, the Reflex eHR2 uses the 128-bit SSL encryption, multiple firewalls and sophisticated servers.

The new service is part of a range of online capabilities by RHB Bank that have helped to enhance its product and service offerings to its customers.

Late last year, RHB extended Internet banking service to the bank's business customers when it launched the Reflex Cash Management. The service has all the capabilities of Internet banking but is offered to business owners.

Head of Product Development and Management, Ms Angela Christine Tan, said more than 5,000 companies have already signed up for the Reflex Cash Management since the launch. She expects more to sign up as more companies realize the full capabilities of the service.

On the tie-up with the LHDN, she said 3,000 companies were already using the Reflex eHR2 and she expected most or all of these companies to fully utilize the service to forward their employees' income tax payments to the LHDN.

Business owners who want more information on this service or the Reflex eHR2 should call the division's Sales Centre and Operations & Technical Support at 03-92806657.
