RHB BANKING GROUP APPOINTS NEW HEAD OF RETAIL BANKING

KUALA LUMPUR, March 10, 2008:The RHB Banking Group today announced the appointment of Renzo Viegas as the Group's Head of Retail Banking.

Viegas brings with him more than two decades of experience in the international and local banking industry. Prior to his appointment as Head of Retail Banking for the Group, Viegas was the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Citibank Malaysia.

Commenting on the appointment, YBhg. Datuk Azlan Zainol, Chairman of RHB Bank Bhd and Director of RHB Capital Bhd., said, "Viegas' appointment is part of our strategy to enhance the Group's strength and close any gaps to ensure that we achieve our long term objectives."

"Our Retail business unit has been identified as one of our core drivers of growth following the Group's Transformation exercise initiated at the tail end of our 2007 financial year."

"With Viegas' vast experience in consumer banking not only locally but abroad, coupled with his substantial management track record, we are confident that he will pave the way for the RHB brand to become one of the leading banks in the region."

Previously, Viegas headed various aspects of banking operations in India, Singapore, Guam (USA) and the Asia Pacific region.

Trained as a chartered accountant, Viegas is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He also completed an advance management programme in strategic marketing planning at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
