RHB Investment Management Sdn Bhd (formerly known as RHB Asset Management Sdn Bhd), is a holder of a Capital Markets Services License issued under the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007. The Manager has been in operation since 1989. Its latest audited shareholders’ fund as at 31st December 2007 was an authorised capital of RM10 million and issued and paid up capital of RM10 million. It is well supported in terms of research and economic and market analysis by RHB Research Institute Sdn Bhd, a recognised research house in Malaysia.
Prior to 1st January 2008, RHB the RHB Investment Banking Group (“Group”) carried on its asset management services and management of unit trust funds businesses through RHBIM and RHBUTM respectively. In line with the changes in the business and regulatory environment of the asset management and unit trust industry, the Group had consolidated both the asset management and unit trust businesses under one single entity.
On 14th December 2007, RHBUTM entered into a Business Transfer Agreement (“BTA”) with its related sister company, RHBIM to transfer its entire business, assets and liabilities to RHBIM.
Pursuant to the BTA, a vesting order was granted by the High Court of Malaya on 19th December 2007 and RHBIM had on 1st January 2008 (“effective date”) took over the entire business, assets and liabilities from RHBUTM. From the effective date, RHBIM has taken carrying on the new business of management of unit trust funds.
RHBIM a part from managing direct mandate it is responsible for the day-to-day administration of its in house unit trust funds in accordance with the provisions of the relevant deeds constituting such RHBIM unit trust funds.
RHBIM is a member of the Federation of Malaysian Unit Trust Managers (“FMUTM”). It maintains a tied sales agency force which is duly registered with FMUTM which markets and distributes its proprietary unit trust funds to prospective investors. It also has an IUTA arrangement with RHB Bank Berhad, CIMB Investment Bank Berhad, HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad, CIMB Bank Berhad, Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad, United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Berhad and OCBC Bank (M) Berhad.
