- Profile of the External Investment Manager

CMS Asset Management Sdn Bhd (“CMSAM”)

CMS Asset Management Sdn Bhd is the External Investment Manager for RHB Global Fortune Fund. The Company is a licensed fund manager under the CMSA. In this respect, the role and responsibilities of CMSAM include management of the investment portfolio in accordance with the investment objective and subject to the CMSA and the Guidelines as well as the terms and conditions of the Investment Management Agreement.

CMSAM is a joint venture company formed between CMS Capital Sdn Bhd and Asiawerks Global Investment Group Private Limited (AGI) since December 2007. CMSAM is incorporated in April 1994, and commenced operations in 1996. CMS Capital, a subsidiary of Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad, holds 51% interest in the joint venture, whilst the remaining 49% is held by AGI. CMSAM is licensed with the SC as a fund manager.

CMSAM’s appointment as the External Investment Manager is derived from the delegation of powers given to RHBIM by the Deeds. CMSAM shall not hold office as a member of the Investment Committee.

As at 31st May 2008, CMSAM has the services of 19 experienced personnel comprising of 12 executives and 7 non-executives to guide them in their asset management activities. As at 31st May 2008, CMSAM currently manages about RM2.06 billion worth of assets (97% equities, 3% fixed income and money market instruments) for local unit trusts, insurance, government agencies, pension funds, individuals and corporate clients.

CMSAM is entitled to pre-determined fees agreed upon by the Manager and CMSAM which shall be payable by the Manager.

CMSAM was an integral part of the Allianz Global Investors’ (AllianzGI) regional platform from 1994 to May, 2007 and thereafter continue to actively work together through a Service Level Agreement which seals the business partnership in product development and innovation, distribution and support services for Funds managed by Allianz Global Investors worldwide.

AllianzGI’s global presence is represented by its offices located across four continents, spanning various investment platforms including RCM, PIMCO, Nicholas Applegate, Oppenheimer Capital, Allianz Hedge Fund Partners, NFJ and Deutscher Investment Trust.

The Underlying Fund of the RHB Global Fortune Fund, AllianzGI RCM Global High Payout Fund investment philosophy is managed according to the RCM investment platform; which is a globally integrated growth manager following a bottom-up and research-driven investment process, with the belief that proprietary company research combined with unique Grassroots SM market research allows for the early identification of reliable and sustainable growth investment opportunities. Company research at RCM is a career track and analysts are organized globally according to industry sector coverage.

The following is the designated External Investment Manager for RHB Global Fortune Fund:-

Philip Tan (Fund Manager) joined CMSAM in May 2005 as Portfolio Manager and subsequently promoted as the Head of Fixed Income & Equities in 2007. He brought with him 13 years experience in fund management including a post he assumed as Head of Fund Management of MBF Unit Trust Bhd and as Senior VP of Investment at Meridian Asset Management, his prior position before joining us. Philip holds a Bachelor of Business in Accounting & Finance from the University of Technology, Sydney, Australia.

 

UOB-OSK Asset Management Sdn Bhd (“UOB-OSKAM”)

RHBIM has appointed UOB-OSK Asset Management Sdn Bhd as its External Investment Manager to manage RHB Dividend Valued Equity Fund and RHB GoldenLife Funds. The Company is a licensed fund manager under the CMSA. In this respect, the role and responsibilities of UOB-OSKAM includes management of the investment portfolio in accordance with the investment objective and subject to the CMSA and the Guidelines as well as the terms and conditions of the Investment Management Agreement.

UOB-OSKAM is guided by an investment management policy determined by the Investment Committee. The policy includes the Guidelines and securities laws as may be varied and approved by the authorities. Its officers are also bound by confidentiality requirements under its policy and code of ethics to deal with any conflict of interest situation.

UOB-OSKAM’s appointment as the External Investment Manager is derived from the delegation of powers given to RHBIM by the Deeds. UOBOSKAM shall not hold office as a member of the Investment Committee.

RHBIM delegated its power to manage RHB Dividend Valued Equity Fund and RHB GoldenLife Funds to UOB-OSKAM pursuant to a mandate between them, as may be varied from time to time. In conformity with the mandate, UOB-OSKAM will be paid its management fee by RHBIM from its Annual Management Fee remuneration.

UOB-OSKAM is one of the foreign fund management companies in Malaysia which offers investment management expertise to unit trust funds as well as institutions, corporations and individuals through customized portfolio management services.

Established in June 1991, UOB-OSKAM is a 70% subsidiary of UOB Asset Management Ltd, which is one of the largest fund managers in Singapore in terms of assets under management. The 30% joint venture partner of UOB-OSKAM is OSK Holdings Bhd, a listed company on Bursa Securities which is involved in the business of stockbroking, investment banking, wealth management, venture capital and retail services.

UOB-OSKAM commenced operations in Kuala Lumpur in March 1997 and it has the support and resource backing of an experienced team of investment professionals at its holding company, who have specialized skills in portfolio investments in both the Asian and global markets. Collectively, the funds under management as at 30 th May 2008 are in excess of RM1.3 billion.

Although the Company has been in the industry for over 10 years, its investment team staff personnel has an average of 15 years experience in the industry covering all aspects of the fund management industry. As at 30th May 2008, the Company has a total staff strength of 20, comprising of 19 executives and 1 non-executive staff.

The following is the designated External Investment Manager/Fund Manager for RHB Dividend Valued Equity Fund and RHB GoldenLife Funds:-

    Lim Suet Ling

She is the Chief Executive Officer of UOBOSKAM. Prior to her appointment, she was an Associate Director of UOB Asset Management Ltd. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) degree and is also a Chartered Financial Analyst. Her current license was renewed on 12 November 2007 and remain valid until 20 December 2008. She has more than 17 years of experience in the industry and has had numerous equity portfolios under her management. Her mandates have been wide-ranging, covering both local and international ones, as well as varying in investment style and focus. She has particular expertise in Malaysian and Asia ex-Japan equities and has been the portfolio manager of several award-winning funds both in Singapore and Malaysia.
